The trade is file size and the processing power needed to move those files, which is a real workflow cost if you shoot thousands of frames in a session.

Electronic burst reaches 30 fps and the mechanical shutter tops out at 12 fps, so you can pick the shutter that suits the situation rather than being forced into one. The mechanical shutter also reaches 1/8,000 s when you want it. For sports, wildlife and event work, that electronic rate is the headline: it is the kind of speed that catches the exact beat of an action.

Subject detection covers people, animals, birds, cars, trains, airplanes and motorcycles. In practice that means you can hand off tracking to the camera across most of the subjects a generalist shoots, rather than switching modes constantly. The pre-burst buffer holds roughly half a second of frames before you fully press the shutter, which helps when the moment happens just before you react.

The camera records 8K internally and supports raw video capture in-camera, with 10-bit depth and log profiles available. That combination is aimed at shooters who want to grade footage and who need the latitude that raw and log provide. Internal raw means you are not tethered to an external recorder just to get the best image.

4K at full width reaches 59.94 fps, which covers most slow-motion needs at the resolution most projects actually finish in. The codec list includes HEVC, ProRes RAW, Cinema RAW Light and XF-AVC, so you can match the format to your editing pipeline. One limit to plan around: ProRes RAW is recorded out over HDMI to an external recorder, not internally.

In-body stabilization is rated at 8.5 stops, which is the figure that lets you hand-hold in dim light instead of reaching for a tripod. That rating depends on the lens and conditions, but even at a fraction of it, the benefit is real for travel and low-light work. The body weighs 746 g and the grip is sized for a full working day rather than a walkaround compromise.

Battery life is rated at 630 shots, and USB charging and power delivery mean you can top up from a power bank or laptop charger on location. Two card slots give you backup or a split between stills and video. Dust and drip resistance and a minimum operating temperature of 0 °C cover normal outdoor shooting, but not hard weather or deep cold.

The electronic viewfinder is 5.76 M dots at 0.76x magnification, and the rear screen is 2.1 M dots on a fully articulated mount. The articulation is the practical part: it lets you frame from low, high and front-facing angles, which matters for video and for awkward stills angles. The finder resolution is high enough that manual focus and framing feel natural.

A full-size HDMI port means you can use standard cables for external recording and monitoring without adapters. A headphone port is on board for audio monitoring, which is basic but necessary for anyone recording sound. Together these ports make the camera usable as a production tool, not just a stills body.
