Fujifilm X100VI

The X100VI is a one-lens camera. You get a fixed lens and a single memory card slot, so there is no path to a telephoto or an ultrawide without stepping to another system. What you get back is a body that weighs 521 g and measures 128 mm across, small enough to carry all day.

That trade suits street, documentary and travel shooters who work at one focal length and value discretion over flexibility. If your work depends on swapping lenses mid-shoot, this is the wrong body.

At 40.2 MP on an APS-C sensor, the X100VI resolves fine detail and leaves real room to crop after the fact. That matters most for street and travel work, where you often cannot move closer and need to reframe in editing.

Native ISO tops out at 12,800, so low-light shooting is workable but not class-leading. The CMOS sensor offers 3:2, 4:3, 1:1 and 16:9 aspect ratios, letting you compose square or widescreen in camera rather than crop later.

In-body stabilization is rated at 6 stops, which is what makes slow shutter speeds handheld realistic in dim streets and interiors. Note the footnote: that figure is achieved when using the LCD or EVF.

Continuous shooting runs 11 fps with the mechanical shutter and 13 fps electronically, and the mechanical shutter reaches 4,000 1/s. Subject detection covers human, animal, bird, car, train, airplane and motorcycle. The pre-burst entry reads 0 s because pre-shot buffers frames while the shutter is half-pressed rather than using a fixed seconds setting.

Video tops out at 6K, with 4K reaching 59.94 fps. Footage is captured at 10-bit depth in H.264 or HEVC, and a log profile is supported for grading. There is no headphone port and HDMI is micro, so audio monitoring and clean external feeds need workarounds.

The viewfinder is a 3.69 M-dot unit at 0.66x magnification, paired with a 3-inch tilting touchscreen at 1.62 M dots. Tilting rather than fully articulating means easier waist-level shooting, but no self-facing monitor.

Weather sealing is listed as none, and that is the biggest catch: the body itself is not sealed. Weather resistance requires the optional AR-X100 adapter ring and PRF-49 filter, so budget for both if you shoot in rain or dust.

Battery life is rated at 320 shots, and USB charging with power delivery is supported, so a power bank covers a long day. Minimum operating temperature is 0 °C, which rules out serious winter work without care.
