GoPro HERO13 BlackvsDJI Osmo 360: Which Action Cam?

The DJI Osmo 360 records 8K and pushes a 170 Mbps bitrate, so a 360° file holds up when you reframe a shot or crop into a flat clip later. The GoPro HERO13 Black tops out at 5.3K, though its HDR mode adds highlight and shadow range for bright outdoor scenes.

Where the GoPro pulls ahead is speed. It reaches 240 fps for continuous slow motion and 120 fps at 4K in 16:9, while the DJI stops at 120 fps. If you want real slow-motion footage of a jump or a splash, that gap decides it. HDR is only for lower frame rates on the GoPro, so you choose one or the other.

The DJI Osmo 360 captures 120 MP stills, which sounds enormous because the sensor is capturing a full sphere at once — you pick the framing after the fact. That is useful when you cannot predict where the action will be.

The GoPro HERO13 Black shoots 27.13 MP and, unlike the DJI, saves RAW files. RAW gives you latitude to fix exposure and white balance in editing, so photographers who post-process will prefer the GoPro even at the lower resolution. The DJI's lack of RAW is a real limitation for stills work.

The DJI Osmo 360 is a different shape: narrow and tall at 36.3 mm wide and 81 mm high, against the GoPro's 71.8 mm by 50.8 mm. Neither is a problem, but the GoPro's wider, flatter body fits standard mounts more naturally while the DJI's slim profile suits handlebar or helmet rigs.

Battery life favors the DJI, with a claimed 190 minutes against the GoPro's 150-minute figure. That GoPro number is measured at 1080p30 with the Enduro battery, and drops to roughly 90 minutes at 4K30. The DJI's claim is not published for 4K, so treat the headline numbers as best-case.

The DJI Osmo 360 ships with 105 GB of built-in storage, enough to start shooting before you buy a card, and accepts microSD up to 1 TB. The GoPro HERO13 Black has no internal memory at all, so a card is mandatory on day one.

For framing and review, the GoPro is easier: a 2.27-inch rear screen plus a 1.4-inch front display for checking yourself. The DJI offers only a 2-inch rear touchscreen, though it is rated at 800 nits and stays readable in daylight. Both have touch controls and no front touch.

For fast action — motorsport, surfing, downhill runs — the GoPro HERO13 Black wins on frame rate and slow motion. Its built-in GPS also logs speed, altitude and route data, which the DJI Osmo 360 does not have at all. That data overlays cleanly onto footage and is a common reason riders pick a GoPro.

For everything else in motion, the DJI's 360° capture means you never miss the shot: point it anywhere and reframe in editing. Neither stabilizer nor horizon lock separates them, since both do each in-camera.

Both cameras survive 10 m of water without a housing and both record to a card you can swap. The DJI Osmo 360 works across a wider temperature range, down to -20 °C and up to 45 °C, which matters for winter sports and desert heat where the GoPro's -10 °C to 35 °C window is tighter.

Audio is the GoPro's weak point. Its external microphone requires a separately sold Media Mod or 3.5mm adapter, while the DJI Osmo 360 has a mic connection built in. If clean audio matters, that is a point against the GoPro.
