The DJI Osmo 360's larger 1-inch sensor and brighter f/1.9 aperture gather more light per pixel, which usually means cleaner footage in dim rooms and at dusk. Its real party trick is the 360° field of view: you shoot once and choose the angle in editing, so you never miss a moment framing a shot on the fly.

The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro's 155° lens is a standard wide action view. You frame on the go, which is faster for vlogging and POV footage but leaves no room to rescue a badly aimed shot later. Buy the Osmo 360 if you edit on a computer; buy the Action 5 Pro if you want a finished clip straight from the camera.

The Osmo 360 tops out at 8K, double the Action 5 Pro's 4K ceiling, and writes at 170 Mbps versus 120 Mbps. More pixels and a higher bitrate mean you can crop into the 360 sphere for a flat 1080p or 4K export and still keep detail, and they give editors more room to push color.

Where the Action 5 Pro punches back is slow motion. It reaches 240 fps at reduced resolution while the Osmo 360 stops at 120 fps, so water balloons, skate tricks and anything you want to dissect frame by frame looks smoother on the DJI action cam. Both hit 120 fps at 4K, so 4K slow motion is a tie.

Both cameras record 10-bit color and offer a log profile, so grading headroom is comparable. The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro adds HDR video through the HLG profile, which helps when you want highlights and shadows to both survive without a grading pass — useful for travel and family footage shot and shared as-is. Its 40 MP stills also support RAW, giving photographers latitude to fix exposure after the fact.

The Osmo 360 counters with 120 MP stills, but no RAW, so those huge files arrive locked to the camera's JPEG processing. If you plan to grade or print photos, the Action 5 Pro is the safer choice; if you just want the highest pixel count for a wide scene, the Osmo 360 delivers it.

Both cameras use the same 1,950 mAh battery, but DJI rates the Osmo Action 5 Pro for 240 minutes of recording versus 190 for the Osmo 360 — that top figure assumes 1080p/24fps with stabilization on and screens off, so treat both as best-case numbers. Roughly 50 extra minutes of claimed runtime is a real advantage on a full day out, especially since 360 footage burns cards faster.

The Action 5 Pro is also the tougher camera: 20 m waterproof on its own versus 10 m, a 60 m rating with its dive case, and less than half the volume of the Osmo 360. It is wider than the Osmo 360 (70.5 mm vs 36.3 mm) because the 360's tall, narrow body is designed to disappear from a stitched sphere, but it is lighter at 146 g versus 183 g.

The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro has a 2.5-inch rear touchscreen and a 1.46-inch front touchscreen, both touch-enabled. The DJI Osmo 360 has a 2-inch rear touchscreen only — no front display at all — which makes it harder to confirm framing or change settings when the camera faces you on a selfie stick or helmet.

Brightness matches at 800 nits, so outdoor visibility is similar once you are looking at a screen. Both support time-lapse, hyperlapse and pre-recording, so those features do not decide anything here.
