The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro launched at $349 as a Standard Combo, and DJI did not sell the body alone at launch. The Insta360 X5 launched at $549.99.

That gap buys you the X5's dual-lens 360 design, an f/2 aperture versus f/2.8 on the DJI, and a slightly larger sensor. The DJI's money goes toward smallness, a front screen and built-in storage instead. If your budget is tight or you already own DJI accessories, the DJI is the cheaper entry.

The X5 tops out at 8K and holds a higher 180 Mbps bitrate, which means more data per second for grading and for holding detail in busy scenes. Its 170° field of view is the widest stated figure, but only in FreeFrame Video at 4K30. Its 4K at 120fps applies to 360° footage; single-lens 4K stops at 60fps.

The DJI records up to 4K but reaches 240fps and shoots 10-bit color, which gives smoother slow motion and more room to push color in post. The X5 is 8-bit and limits I-Log to 5.7K, not the 8K top mode. For reframing one shot into many angles, pick the X5; for clean slow motion and color grading, pick the DJI.

The X5 carries a larger 2,400 mAh battery and claims 208 minutes at 5.7K24 with Endurance Mode on. The DJI's 240-minute figure is its own lab number at 1080p/24 with stabilization on and the screen and Wi-Fi off, so the two headline claims are not measured the same way.

The DJI is much the smaller and lighter camera at 146 g against 200 g, and it is rated deeper out of the box at 20 m versus 15 m. It also has built-in 47 GB of storage, so you can shoot before buying a card. The X5 has none. Neither maker publishes a 4K runtime, so real-world endurance comparisons rest on the maker claims.

Both have a 2.5-inch rear touchscreen. The DJI adds a 1.46-inch front touchscreen, which matters for vloggers and anyone framing themselves, and its rear panel is rated to 800 nits for bright outdoor shooting. The X5 has no front screen at all.

On the X5 your framing comes from the 360 capture, which lets you point the camera and choose the angle later. That is a different workflow, not a small screen. If you shoot handheld to-camera, the DJI's two screens are the easier setup.
