The R50 V records in 4K resolution with 10-bit color and supports log profiles, giving you rich color grading options and high dynamic range potential for your projects. You can choose from codecs like H.264, HEVC, XF-AVC, and XF-HEVC to fit your editing workflow.

Keep in mind how you shoot your scenes because full-width 4K tops out at 29.97 fps. If you want 4K at 59.94 fps, the camera uses a crop to 64 percent of the sensor's horizontal area, which narrows your field of view.

Weighing only 370 g with a width of 119.3 mm, the R50 V is easy to carry on long shoots or travel days. It features a fully articulated 3-inch rear screen with a resolution of 1.04 M dots to help you frame shots from difficult angles.

Note that the camera has no built-in electronic viewfinder, meaning you must rely entirely on the rear screen for framing. It also lacks weather sealing, so you need to protect it if you shoot in rain or dust.

Subject detection covers humans, animals, and vehicles, helping you keep moving targets sharp without constantly adjusting focus points. When action speeds up, you can shoot continuous bursts at up to 12 fps with the mechanical shutter.

Switching to the electronic shutter increases that burst speed to 15 fps for fast sequences. The max mechanical shutter speed reaches 4,000 1/s, freezing typical outdoor movement easily.

The battery provides up to 480 shots when using the supplied LP-E17 battery with the LCD in power-saving mode. You can charge via USB, but remember that USB charging requires a genuine, authenticated Canon battery.

For audio and external gear, the body includes a headphone port and a Micro HDMI port. Storage relies on a single memory card slot.
